Indecent premiered at the Yale Repertory Theatre in October 2015, and it then played at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego in November 2015. It is also the first announced new play by a woman in the 2016 to 2017 season. Despite this very substantial career, this production of Indecent marks the first time that a work of Paula Vogel’s has been given a Broadway production. Her other works include The Baltimore Waltz, which earned the Obie Award for Best Play in 1992, as well as The Oldest Profession, And Baby Makes Seven, and Desdemona. Paula Vogel has been a prolific playwright since the late 1970s, and she won the great honor of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1997 for her play How I Learned to Drive.
